We have started a group at my church and I would love to cross stitch Aprons for the group. Our women's ministry is called G.R.I.T.S. (Girls Really In The Spirit) and our small group is called The Apron Brigade (cooking and taking food to others). I would love help in designing a pattern to put on the apron. Anyone know who I can contact to help with this? I haven't cross stitched in awhile so I know that I am not up to tackling creating the pattern from scratch. It's basically letters with maybe some fun cooking things worked into the lettering. Thanks. Leigh

Does anyone know what the general consensus is on where to start a project? I have a few HAED's that will be started soon, and would like to begin in the upper left hand corner opposed from starting in the middle of the material, but don't know how much to come in? The stitched area is 24 X 28 and I would like to leave a 4-6" border. So...if my material measures 30 X 34, do I come in 4" at the top and the left side and place my first stitch at this point? Many thanks.

As avid cross stitchers, we all have our favorite stores but that doesn't stop us from shopping around!!

ABCStitch is a GREAT site but they are not all like this one.

So I would like to warn you about a site I came across and from which I made a purchase and that I never received the pattern nor did I get a refund.

This site is www.crossstitchkeepsakes.com and the owner Lori Vogtsberger.

NEVER order from there. I've reported this business to the BBB and found out I was not the only one with a problem. Their rating is "F" which is the worst rate.

I thought I'd let you all know so you don't lose any money!
I have been and avid stitcher for over 30 years...yikes and thought I would combine my love of cross stitch with my love to travel.. I bought a travel agency to reap the benefits of travel and now like to stitch on the seas.
Just did a Caribbean cruise with Jeannette Douglas in January 2009 and it was great fun and a huge success.

I have been searching everywhere for a design seen in a magazine - the outline of a brown bear, walking - and within that outline, a white tent set up beside a small river that flows between sparsely-forested hills.
Quite a while ago (at least 10+ years?), I found a free DMC chart of Smokey Bear and friends in a magazine (Family Circle?) and had started the cross stitch only to eventually loose the chart. I would LOVE to finish it as my husband is in the fire service. It had a green checkerboard type border on all sides and I think it had a sign at the bottom about "not playing with matches" and various animal friends, trees and smokey were in the overall picture. DMC says the chart is "No longer available" and is not offering any assistance. I am hoping you can!

I am new here and I found this to be a cover it all kinda place. I have just recently learned about gridding.
Is there such a thing as any type of cross stitch fabric that already has the gridding on it, maybe the gridding washes out when the work is finished.

Thanks!!

Black on white. Pretty much a line drawing of the tower. Every pattern I've found has been very ornate. Hope someone can help me.

I just received a chart that was printed outside the US. It gives the finished size, 14.5X14.5 but it does not give a stitch count. It calls for using 27 count fabric. Since I have no desire to go blind this year I would like to use 14 count. Is there a calculator somewhere where I can find out how big the finished size will be without providing a stitch count? Thanks!!
